Lahaina was a disaster ready to happen. A human-caused disaster. Large areas of highly flammable invasive grasses were just east of Lahaina. Grasses growing in abandoned farmland.
Republican Rep. Byron Donalds blamed “green new deal stuff” for the devastating wildfire in Maui, saying an electric company ignored “the basic things.”
Climate change has little to do with such grass/range fires. Many steps can be taken to reduce the grass/range wildfire risk.
But, the left's mantra has been "never let a good crisis go to waste." Facts simply don't matter to them.
But Mann will keep repeating such climate exaggerations until he gets dumb politicians to only accept his bogus opinions. Beware people!

This event was not the result of climate change, Hurricane Dora, or an extended drought. It resulted from an unusually intense mountain wave/downslope windstorm produced by a fairly rare convergence of conditions.
We can take steps to prevent this from happening again, including understanding why this event occurred and building the observation, warning, and action infrastructure as California.
